Indulge in Luxury: Cream Cheese Icing Recipe Cake Decorations Basic

Hey there, bakers! Today, we're going to dive into the creamy world of cream cheese icing. This rich, smooth icing is perfect for adding a luxurious touch to your cakes. Let's get started!

Ingredients

Here are the ingredients you'll need:

  • Cream cheese: 1 block (around 16 ounces)
  • Powdered sugar: 3 cups
  • Vanilla extract: 2 tablespoons
  • Butter: 1 stick
  • Milk or heavy cream: 2–3 tablespoons (to adjust consistency)
  • Salt: 1 teaspoon

Instructions

  1. Soften the cream cheese: Place the block of cream cheese in a large bowl. Cover it with plastic wrap and let it soften in the refrigerator for about 30 minutes.
  2. Cream the butter and sugar: While the cream cheese is softening, beat together the butter and powdered sugar in a separate bowl until light and fluffy.
  3. Blend in the cream cheese: Once softened, add the cream cheese to the butter and sugar mixture. Beat until well combined and smooth.
  4. Adjust consistency: If the icing is too thick, gradually add milk or heavy cream, one tablespoon at a time, until you reach the desired texture.
  5. Stir in vanilla extract and salt: Mix in the vanilla extract and salt to enhance the flavor.
  6. Chill the icing: For best results, let the icing chill in the fridge for at least 2 hours before using. This will help it set and become easier to spread.

And there you have it! A rich, creamy cream cheese icing that's perfect for adding a luxurious touch to your cakes. Feel free to adjust the quantities to suit your taste. Remember, the best icing is the one that makes you smile. Enjoy your baking adventures!

In the video she did not add eggs but in directions it states to add eggs. And don’t you need to cook the eggs, we wouldn’t want to eat the raw like that, right?

Thank you for your question! This recipe actually does not require eggs. If the instructions mention adding eggs, that is likely a typo, and we will correct it right away. Classic cream cheese icing is typically made with just cream cheese, butter, powdered sugar, and vanilla, so it is completely safe to eat without cooking.

If there are other recipes that include eggs, the eggs are usually cooked first (such as in Swiss or Italian meringue buttercream) to ensure food safety. However, for this recipe, no eggs are used. Hope this helps, and thank you for trying our recipe!
